Ultimate’s own Coach Jen Duckenfield, one of the Philadelphia area’s top lacrosse instructors and a board member of the Pennsylvania Area Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association, has been named varsity lacrosse coach for The Agnes Irwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA, and will take the reins of the lacrosse program in the spring.
“I am excited to join the coaching staff at Agnes Irwin and their tradition of promoting athletics as a path to leadership for girls,” said Duckenfield.
“My coaching philosophy is simple: hard work leads to success on and off the field. My team goals are to improve upon the 2012 record and help players develop a passion for the game. The Inter-Ac has a great tradition of rivalry, and I am looking forward to having a competitive lacrosse program year after year.”
In addition to being one of the core coaches at Ultimate Lacrosse, Coach Duckenfield has extensive coaching experience, having led the All-Philly Under Armour Team 2010-11 and the varsity girls lacrosse teams for Mount Saint Joseph Academy (Flourtown, PA). She has also directed numerous camps and clinics.
Coach Duckenfield guided Mount Saint Joseph to a 13-6 record and a qualified for the District 1 tournament last year in her only season there. She also led Strath Haven to a share of its first Central League championship and a state playoff run in 2010 when she was named a Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention Coach of the Year.
